I think you would have been better off trading for the aven and the bant sureblade in R2G2. You could have then played the elemental and killed his exalted flyer. next turn you could have fractured the esperzoa (after it forced him to return an artifact, could have caused him to lose tempo) and dragged down something else if need be.
too bad about the mana screw in game 3

@zombie: While i do appreciate your comments, it’s really does not help me when you tell me that i could have had the nuts xxxxx deck. What parts in the draft specifically would you have done differently?
Also, while mace is good in sealed, it really reeks in draft. It is too expensive and really is only good when your opponents deck is bad. That is just my experience with it. I used to like it, but after playing the format i have come to dislike it quite a bit.
@Contra: Interesting option. If i kill the aven instead, he bounces his own aethercaste. Then i know he has the two fliers in his hand. So he can hit me for 5 and play those two guys. I am at 5. I can play two removal spells next turn. He has esperzoa, gargoyle, and blade. I can kill his zoa on my turn and then on his turn kill one of his fliers taking me down to 3. Or i can wait til he bounces his gargoyle and then kill his zoa and blade. The problem is is that the gargoyle recursion makes me lose since my strategy is to kill everything. So let’s say i am at 3 and he has gargoyle, and then playes the 3/4 which he just got back. I also need to kill that as that is lethal to me. I have already used my filigree fracture on the turn i needed to use two removal spells. I can kill the gargoyle with my second drag down, but then i will likely die to the 3/4 (it can block my creatures and i can’t block it). It’s a very complicated situation, but usually in situations like those i don’t like to make cute plays and just try to take the safest path possible. It was still very close as he had nonstop pressure, but i am glad it resulted in a win. I could have analyzed the situation incorrectly and if that is the case forgive me, but i think this is what went through my mind at the moment.

r2g1: you could have theoretically tricked him into running his stormblade into your dude the turn you drag down. Just a thought, he’d have to be pretty bad to not think something was up when you don’t attack with your ground dude against his flyers though.
