I really wanted to play the sphinx.
Not sure what you guys think of stormcallers boon but it wins games when splashed in naya builds, which this basically is.

iff you were gonna get greddy for sphinx you have to get greedy for extractor demon as well

i probably would've played one/bot obelisks if I was getting greedy

I was tempted to run the demon, but i felt like that entailed running more swamps and the extra bomb wouldn't offset the greater instability in my mana. I may not have run the sphinx without the stormcaller's boon.. nah i would have.

i find myself siding out the boon when I see too many fliers game one (or the person seems bomb laden) for voices of the void.

i was considering the obelisks but didnt want to cut anything.
I am just hoping to live the dream of mayel -> steel wind before this event is over.

ok, went 3-1, came 8th.

i only got to play my sphinx once, in the last game of the last round, opponent conceded..

only time i got mayael online i had already won, drew cards to see what i would have turned up and there was nothing.

stormcaller's boon did win me one or or two games but it has performed better for me in the past.

it would have been absolutely right to play the obelisk of esper over the sanctum plowbeast. don't know what I was thinking. did so in the last game, worked out great.

quick question... what deck is sphinx of the steel wind in? i just sold one for 11 tix!

It's an Open the Vaults Esper deck in Standard. I believe they run 4 of the Sphinx.

Oh, so that is a deck now? I had that built in paper for the longest. It is the only constructed deck I have up atm.

I looked at it but not for a long time, lol. didn't have anything i wanted to cut and didn't remember it being that good in the past.

Got a pool full of removal and bombs.. lets see how it works out.

edit: just resubmitted with +1 blister beetle -1 ceradon yearling

edit: lost round 1. won the first game pretty easily but made two risky keeps for the second and third.
lost round 2 as well. the soul's fire bug is really getting in the way.
lost round 3!

ah well. a large part of it i think was the wonky mana base.
